  • 1.1 kW off-grid hydroelectric system
  • 90 feet of net head
  • 250 gpm

The system was installed to provide power to an off-grid Christian youth retreat. Water was diverted from the Big Canyon stream using a “Coanda” screen then transmitted through a PVC pipe to a buried vault containing the turbo impulse turbine. Wild three phase power is transmitted 2,000 feet through buried cable to an AC transformer and 48-volt nominal DC rectifier to charge batteries. A 7.2 kW inverter supplies power to the facility.
