West Point Pump Station hydro system, West Point, Utah

  • 3 – 4 kW Pelton wheels used for a grid-tie hydro system
  • 300 feet of head
  • 0.87 cfs flow

The Weber-Davis Canal company operates an irrigation pump station to supplement pressure at the far end of a gravity irrigation system. During non-irrigation hours water is delivered to the pump station storage reservoir from irrigation reservoirs located 11 miles away at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Power is generated from the water delivered to the pump station reservoir. Later during irrigation hours water at the pump station is pressurized back into the delivery line to maintain system pressure. The hydroelectric system is only operational during the irrigation season.
